A chemical used in perfume may stimulate hair growth

Can Perfume Regrow Hair

In a post on the Independent they reported that a perfume that smells like sandalwood may reverse baldness. The team that discovered this may go from lab to the clinic in the near future. In the lab they applied the fragrance to the scalp tissue and saw an increase in hair growth and decrease in the death of existing cells.  The science is based on a receptor called OR2AT4 and is found in the outer layers of the follicles. A chemical designed to mimic the smell of sandalwood also has the power to stimulate hair growth in humans, according to a new study.
